The Scenkonstmuseet is a state museum for theater, music, and dance, located in central Stockholm. Here, fascinating objects are combined with interactive stations where visitors can try everything from digital theater makeup to dancing to music. The activities are aimed at all ages. We are a small world-class museum with great interaction and exciting stories.

The Scenkonstmuseet is part of the Statens musikverk, which is an authority tasked with preserving, promoting, and making accessible the cultural heritage of theater, dance, and music, as well as promoting a varied musical offering characterized by artistic renewal and high quality. Here you will find unique archives, one of the world's largest collections of instruments, one of Europe's leading music libraries, and world-class studios for electronic music. The activities are conducted with a citizen perspective in focus. The Statens musikverk is under the Ministry of Culture and includes the Music and Theater Library, the Swedish Song Archive, Caprice Music, the Scenkonstmuseet, and the Electronic Music Studio.

The Statens musikverk is now seeking museum hosts for the Scenkonstmuseet for hourly work over the course of a year.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a museum host, you will be part of a host team. You will greet museum visitors with professional hospitality, making them feel welcome, safe, curious, and comfortable. You will show engagement and collaborate well with colleagues, creating good conditions for providing the audience with an experience that is enjoyable, touching, and encourages them to return.

The interaction largely takes place in our exhibitions where, in addition to guiding and assisting visitors, you also have a security responsibility. Our visitors come from various backgrounds and nationalities, and a significant part of your role is to adapt your approach accordingly.

As a museum host, you will conduct public tours, meet visitors in the museum, answer questions on-site, by phone, or digitally, and staff the entrance and shop. The work also includes preparation, execution, and restoration during program activities such as concerts, theater performances, discussions, etc.

You will oversee exhibitions and public spaces and act in alarm and emergency situations. You will be both a host and a guard as you walk around the exhibitions and must be able to quickly switch between these functions while maintaining a friendly demeanor.

The work is physically demanding and may involve heavy lifting.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with experience in customer service, preferably from a museum or the visitor and tourism industry. You have experience and are comfortable speaking in front of a group, and you are used to adapting to your audience.

You have good knowledge of Swedish and English.

Meritorious:

  • You master additional languages, preferably Finnish
  • You have experience working with various events and program activities
  • You have experience with booking and/or cashier work

You are attentive, service-oriented, proactive, and organized. You understand the importance of good hospitality and enjoy conveying a cultural experience. Furthermore, you are patient and observant, have a good overview, and are prepared for anything that may happen and can act quickly. You are flexible and find it easy to collaborate with others.

EMPLOYMENT

Temporary intermittent employment (hourly employment) for one year with varied scope according to agreement, primarily for work during weekends and school breaks (including summer vacation). Working hours are scheduled and involve work on major holidays and sometimes evenings. Short-notice shifts may occur. Working hours are typically from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM but may vary.
